  • Winter Story Time: Join us for Story Time at 11 am every Tuesday at the main library January 10 through April 24. It's free and all kids are welcome.

 

 

INTERLIBRARY LOAN SERVICE

 

The following changes to MCL's Interlibrary Loan Service (ILS) are effective immediately.

 

 

  1. Renewals are no longer available on OCLC (downstate & out-of-state) loans
  2. Patrons requesting a renewal of other ILLs must contact the MCL location that originated the request at least 3 days in advance
  3. ILL items not returned by their due date are subject to MCL overdue

    MCL will not request items for interlibrary loan that have not been available for at least 6 months


What Do I Need to Download Audiobooks and eBooks through the Library?

 


- A valid Manistee County Library card.


- A computer or device with Internet access

- OverDrive Media Console (free software used to manage the files) and Windows Media Player 9 or higher

- iTunes - if you are planning on listening to your audiobook on an Apple® device.

- A Windows-based MP3 player or a supported device such as an iPod, iPhone - click Compatible Device Icon f

 

or a complete list.

Which Formats May I Use on My Device?

OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks:

  1. Download to:
    • Windows computers.
    • Mac® computers.

    •  

      Android™ devices.
    • Blackberry® devices.
    • iPhone® / iPad® / iPod touch® devices.
    • Windows Mobile devices.
  2. Transfer to:
    • Apple devices from a Windows or Mac computer.
    • Most cell phones and PDAs.
    • MP3 players.

OverDrive WMA Audiobooks

  1. Download to:
    • Windows® computers.
    • Windows Mobile® devices.
  2. Transfer to:

    •  

      Apple® devices (with publisher permission) from a Windows computer.
    • Portable devices that support DRM-protected WMA files.



 





















 




The Downloading Process


First, set up your computer with the software needed to accept the digital audiobook:
1. Click on the OverDrive Media Console on the Upnorth.lib site and download the version of this

software needed for your computer.


2. If necessary, download a copy of Windows Media Player from this same OverDrive page.


3. Upgrade your Windows Media Player license by going to the OverDrive Media Console program ->Tools

 

-> Windows Media Player Security Upgrade.

Checking out your first audiobook:
1. From the Manistee County Library site, click on the eBook icon, or go directly to http://upnorth.lib.overdrive.com
2. Log in using your Manistee County Library card number.
3. Select an audiobook and click "Add to my Cart." Then click "Procede to Checkout."
4. Note: If the book you've selected is currently checked out, you may place a hold on it. You will be notified by e-mail when it becomes available for you to download.
5. Confirm your checkout and download the book. When prompted, open the book with the OverDrive Media Console rather than saving it.

 

6. The OverDrive Media Console will automatically open. Follow the prompts and download your audiobook.

7. To transfer to a MP3 player or other device, select the buttons at the top of the Console and follow the directions!

Returning your audiobooks:
1. Books are checked out for 14 days. After that period they will automatically expire. They may not be returned early.

 

2. You may manually delete the expired files from your computer and/or device to avoid taking up drive space.
3. Sorry! At this time there are no renewals. There is a maximum of five OverDrive audiobooks/e-books that may be checked out on your card at any given time.
