Lending Rules

How long can you check something out, how many items you can place on hold, what it costs if your materials are late, and renewals?

IN ORDER FOR US TO LOAN YOU ANYTHING, YOU MUST PRESENT A VALID LIBRARY CARD

                 A borrowed item may be renewed for 1 (one) time (excluding Non Print Materials) unless another patron is waiting for that material, as evidenced by a reserve/hold on the item.  If there is a hold/reserve on a borrowed item it WILL NOT be renewed.  Material borrowed from libraries outside the Manistee County Library system are renewed at the discretion of the lender, in conjunction with the Manistee County Library Interlibrary Loan Policy.

    

LENGTH OF LOAN PERIODS/RENEWAL

  PRINT MATERIALS: 

                           All book material has a three week (21 days) loan period, including Adult, Youth, and Juvenile.  These materials may be renewed online, by telephone or in person for one (1) additional (3) three-week period.

                           Magazines in all collections check out for a one (1) week period and may be renewed for one additional one-week period, as long as the material is not overdue.

                          Chilton repair manuals, GED test prep and ASVAB test prep manuals may be checked out for 3 weeks (21 days) but do require a $10.00 security deposit that is return to the patron upon return of the items. Projectors, etc. may also require a deposit as well as a lending fee.

                           Audio Books on CD, Playaways, MP3s check out for 3 weeks with one (1) renewal for an additional 3 weeks.

     NON PRINT MATERIALS

                           VHS, DVD, BluRay, and Computer Programs/Game materials check out for one (1) week only with NO renewals due to high interest.
