Manistee County Library Card Policy

Library Cards:   The Manistee County Library offers library cards at no cost to people who live or own property in the state of Michigan. Non-residents of the state may obtain temporary library cards for a fee.

Residents are defined as those persons who live in or own property in the state of Michigan. No fee is charged for a state resident to get a card.

Proof of Residency:  All applicants are required to show proof of their current residency.  Photo ID with current address or photo ID and a postmarked utility bill/official correspondence to the applicant at the current address.

Access to Services: Michigan residents will have access to checking out Manistee County Library materials. A list of the types of materials offered is available at the circulation desk. Michigan residents will also have access to those electronic resources that the Manistee County Library purchases.  A list of current electronic resources is available at the circulation desk.

Non-Residents  are defined as those persons who do not maintain a permanent residence or have property in Michigan. The use of Manistee County  Library cards, facilities, materials, and services by non-residents is governed by the limitations, restrictions, and fees outlined in this policy.

Fees:     For a fee of $25.00, non-residents will be given a Manistee County Library Non-resident Family card. Non-resident cards expire after four (4) months. The amount of the Non-resident fee is subject to change by Board Action. 

ID Required: All applicants are required to show proof of their identity. Photo ID with current address or photo ID and a postmarked utility bill/official correspondence to the applicant at the current address are required.

Access to Services: Non-residents will not have access to electronic materials.
