Seed Starting and Propagation

Have you got a bit of Spring Fever? Itching to get your hands in the dirt? Let’s talk about starting plants from seeds and cuttings so they will be ready when it is time to let them migrate safely to the outdoors. Marian Jarvinen will host gardening classes at the Manistee County Library this month. Tuesday, March 21st at 6:30 the topic will be Seed Starting and Propagation. This will be a discussion group to help you get started, improve your skills or answer any questions you might have about plant multiplication. No math skills are required. On Saturday, April 1, at 1:00 pm, Marian will discuss Gardening in Tough Conditions. “When the going gets tough, the tough garden anyway.” If you think you don’t have the right conditions to make a perfect garden, don’t let that stop you. Learn about xeriscape (dry) gardening, shade gardening, bog gardening or any combination of difficult conditions. Yes, even foiling the deer! This gardening class will present ideas on how to start or improve upon what you have to work with in your tough spots. Manistee County Library is located at 95 Maple Street. The classes will be held in the upper Meeting Room. Registration is required. Please call 231-723-2519 to reserve your spot.
