Internet Workstation Rules

 (Copies of the Internet Access Policy Are Available in the Tech Room and at theCirculation Desk)

1. You must register with the Tech Room Attendant or at the Circulation Desk prior to using an Internet workstation. Library cards with an internet approval sticker must be shown by students (age 9-18). Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2. Signing up for a time on an Internet workstation does not insure use of a specific machine. If specific software or special access is required, see attendant.

3. Patrons may sign up for 1 hour time slot only. Time may be adjusted as use demands.

4. User must relinquish the workstation when his/her time slot is over.

5. Reservations may be made for purposes of education or other special circumstances only.

6. Patrons may print information for twenty-five (25) cents per page for ALL sheets printed. ASK FOR ASSISTANCE when printing if not sure how to have only wanted sheets printed.

7. If a user is late for a reserved time slot, time will not be extended into the next time block without prior approval.

8. Changes of the settings or configuration of library computers is expressly prohibited and may result in loss of access to library computers.

9. Users may not download files to the hard drive. Files my be downloaded to a floppy disk/CD/flash drive provided by the user.

10. If a machine locks up, shuts down, or otherwise does not work properly, call library staff. DO NOT ATTEMPT REPAIRS.

11. Inappropriate use of Internet access workstations will result in penalties as determined by Library Staff and Administration.

12. ACCESSING, VIEWING, SENDING, RECEIVING PORNOGRAPHIC SITES, MATERIALS, MAIL SERVERS, ETC. IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN AND MAY BE ILLEGAL. USERS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE LIBRARY IMMEDIATELY AND HAVE ACCESS PRIVILEGES SUSPENDED AT ALL MANISTEE COUNTY LIBRARY LOCATIONS AS DETERMINED BY LIBRARY STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION.
