Manistee County Library Flash Fiction Contest

May is National Short Story month and Manistee County Library is celebrating with a flash fiction contest for ages 8 and up.

Stories up to 100 words in length can be submitted using our online submission form. Stories can be any style, but content must be family-friendly and follow the contest submission guidelines.

Judges made up of staff and volunteers selected by Manistee County Library will select first place winners for each age group:

  • 8 - 12 years old
  • 13 - 17 years old
  • 18 years and older

All valid entries will be posted on the library website during the month of June. The public will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite story during this time. The story with the most votes will receive the Reader's Choice Award.

Winners will receive a $10 gift card to Dairy Queen. Winners will be announced on July 15.

GUIDELINES:

  • Contest is open to ages 8 and up. Limit, one story per person.

  • Stories must be original, no more than 100 words in length and not previously published.

  • Stories can be any style but content must be family-friendly.

  • Stories must be submitted online using the Google Form link. Paper entries and email entries will not be accepted.

  • Your entry must include the following:
    • First and last name
    • Phone number
    • Age of author

  • Entries that do not follow the guidelines or are submitted after deadline will be removed from consideration.

  • Entries are due on June 7, 2023.
